What is responsiveness? And for what professions is this quality necessary? At the heart of the term is the ability to empathize with another person. But in fact, the meaning of responsiveness is much wider, it is the ability to support, and the desire to help others, it is to some extent self-sacrifice. Such qualities are inherent in many people. In my opinion, any profession needs this quality, but there are, perhaps, special cases in which a lack of responsiveness is simply unthinkable.
In the story of V. Rasputin, “French Lessons”, the difficult profession of a teacher is shown by the example of a young French teacher. Reading this story, it becomes clear that this work without such a quality as responsiveness is simply unthinkable. Lidia Mikhailovna, seeing the plight of the boy, was beginning to help him. Despite her position and the fact that she could be fired, she tried, as she could, to alleviate the fate of the protagonist. Unfortunately, the director of this school did not possess such a quality as mercy and punished the teacher for playing for money with the student, dismissing her. But her dedication helped the boy to survive in such a difficult time, having also cultivated in him sensitivity to his neighbor.
But V. Rasputin was not the only writer to show how important this quality is in some professions. In the story “Miraculous Doctor” by A. Kuprin, we are talking about a doctor who saved the life of a whole Mertsalov family. This happened not only thanks to his medical skills, but also his inner feeling, his responsiveness to the grief of others. After all, he could pass by the misfortune of some unfamiliar family, but did not do this, leaving the money on the table. Professor Pirogov was able to prove by personal example how important it is to extend a helping hand to a drowning man in time, support him humanly, and give hope.
Thus, we have accumulated several examples of professions where a sense of responsiveness, empathy is necessary. It’s important to simply have this quality, regardless of the profession in our time, where everyone is occupied only with himself. In a few lines it is difficult to talk about the importance of the quality of responsiveness, but I hope that in such a small format I managed to say a lot.
