(356 words) Parents are one of the most important people in our lives. Hardly anyone has more influence on a person than his father and mother. It is not surprising that the topic of relations between parents and children occupies a very important place in the entire human culture. In my opinion, we should never forget about those who raised us, helping them in those moments when they are not able to take care of themselves. There are many examples in the literature proving my point.
So, in Leo Tolstoy’s historical novel “War and Peace”, the fate of the Rostov family unfolds before us. Throughout the story, the noble family goes through the most difficult trials, starting with the love experiences of the younger members of the family, ending with the war of 1812. The Rostovs lose their property in a fire, the youngest son Peter dies in the war, and soon the head of the family, Ilya Andreevich, dies. The mother of the family, Natalya Rostova, falls into despair, losing all desire to live. Her children, Natalya and Nikolai, are doing everything possible so that their mother does not need anything. They save on themselves, work hard and satisfy all the whims of the countess. In the end, the Rostovs resolved all their life problems and lived happily because they did not betray each other. For them, indifference to the needs of the mother was a crime that can not be justified, and understanding this pattern of human relationships saved the family from destruction.
Talked about this problem and William Shakespeare. In his tragedy, King Lear, he talks about the legendary king of antiquity. An aging Lear wants to retire, leaving the kingdom to three of his daughters. Yielding to pride, he expels Cordelia sincerely loving him and gives the kingdom to Goneril and Regan, who are only interested in power. They begin to oppress Lear in every possible way, drive him out to sleep in the field in the rain, and afterwards they try to kill him at all. Cordelia, who still loves him, comes to the aid of her father, but eventually dies. Repentant Lear dies too. Rough rock catches up with Goneril and Regan. Shakespeare showed that lack of concern for parents is a terrible betrayal, which is punished by fate itself.
For a decent person, the very idea that parents can be turned away is unacceptable. Respect for father and mother is one of the determining factors of a real family, the support of society and the state. That is why the younger generation should remember that the lack of concern for the older generation is a real betrayal aimed at undermining the moral and ethical foundations.
